About the deck
Introducing The Key & Bee Playing Cards: A key, a bee and a sky full of stars — a small emblem that sparked the vision for this custom deck. As a huge fan of the book series, The Magicians by Lev Grossman, I wanted to bring a little of the mystery of Brakebills into my own deck design, with details that fellow fans might recognise and enjoy. The Key & Bee emblem takes centre stage on the custom Ace of Spades and carries through to the custom two-way back design, tying the deck together. Each of the custom-designed court characters holds a magical Key & Bee book, weaving that inspiration through the deck and inviting you to imagine the secrets hidden within its pages. And, of course, there had to be a little room for Fillory. The Jokers depict its two ram gods, Ember and Umber, with Umber appearing as the shadow ram — a finishing touch that brings another part of this much-loved world to the cards.
